York CVS 75th Anniversary Lecture

Thursday 11 September 2014, 5.00PM

Speaker(s): Professor Bob Doherty

York CVS celebrates its 75th Anniversary in 2014. Since the organisation began in 1939, there have been huge changes in civil society from one dominated by concepts of service, thrift and charity to the current day concept of social enterprise. York CVS continues to work across the breadth and diversity of the voluntary sector and with this backdrop is delighted to welcome Professor Bob Doherty from the University of York and Editor of the Social Enterprise Journal to give its 75th Anniversary Lecture.

Professor Doherty will consider our changing times, talking about his experiences of how social enterprise has come centre stage and what this means for society, ideals and York. Bob brings his considerable academic research and theory to bear alongside practical experience gained in social enterprise, most notably with Divine Chocolate.

Drinks and Divine Chocolate from 5.00pm, for a 5.30 start.

Tickets are free and are available at: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/york-cvs-75th-anniversary-lecture-charity-to-social-enterprise-tickets-11801623975.
