A day in the life of a Managing Director, Board member in Belgium

I have worked in so many different industries. I never really knew what I wanted to do when I graduated!

Briefly describe the organisation you work for

The JGI works towards sustaining a healthy planet where people make compassionate choices to live sustainably and in harmony with each other, the environment and other animals.

What do you do?

Member of the Board. Treasurer.

Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?

I have worked in several industries since graduating from York. Initially in international banking with Lloyds Bank in Brazil, then several years in telecommunications with France Telecom, financial network association and Equant based in Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. I then spent 10 years in the ITC lobby world as COO if DIGITALEUROPE in Brussels. I did a one year stint as MD of a think tank in Brussels. Whilst I am seeking myself foe, I joined the boards of two NGOs in Brussels as I wanted to get involved in something really meaningful to the world in which we live to day and particularly as this relates to the protection of animals and the environment.

Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?

I have worked in so many different industries. I never really knew what I wanted to do when I graduated!

Describe your most memorable day at work

Working across 28 EU countries in a multi-cultural environment and a politically charged setting.

Are there any challenges associated with your job?

Working in the NGO world where people do not see eye to eye on how a professionalised service can be beneficial for an NGO

Fun

What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?

Wim Hof Method Practitioner. Marathon and long distance trail runner.
