Studentships

CESAGen - ESRC Centre for Economic and Social Aspects of Genomics
Stem Cells - Laboratory Ethnography
ESRC 3-year PhD studentship

Available now - a three-year full-time ESRC studentship, to undertake ethnographic fieldwork with a research group working on the clinical application of stem cells. The research will be supervised by Professors Paul Atkinson and Peter Glasner. This provides an outstanding opportunity for someone to do fieldwork with a leading-edge biomedical group, and to work in a leading social-science research centre.

CESAGen is funded to 2012 to conduct social science research on the social contexts and consequences of new genetic technologies. It is an interdisciplinary research centre, within the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University. This studentship is funded under the ESRC’s Stem Cells Initiative, and there will therefore be many opportunities to network and collaborate with other research groups nationally and internationally.

For details and expressions of interest, please contact Professor Paul Atkinson; email address: AtkinsonPA@Cardiff.ac.uk
