Entrance requirements
We require an honours degree at 2:1 or higher, or qualifications and/or experience deemed by the University to be of an equivalent standard. There is no requirement for experience or qualifications in Economics. In addition, students whose first language is not English are normally asked to provide evidence of English language ability before admission to the University. Further information on the University’s English language requirements can be found here. (Please note that we may ask for higher scores than these in some cases.) This requirement can be waived if we deem an applicant's level of English to be of an acceptable standard for Postgraduate study (for example if the applicant uses English in his or her day to day job or submits, as part of a referee's report, confirmation to this effect). For the admissions period for entry in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years, the number of applications significantly exceeded the number of places available. If this continues in future years, we shall base our decisions regarding offers on the overall quality of the candidate’s application. This will include their educational and employment history, the quality of their written statement on reasons for wanting to take the programmes, and the quality of the references. We receive the right not to offer a place to an applicant even if they meet our minimum entrance requirements. We also expect the handwriting of all students to be clear and markers of exam questions reserve the right to refuse to mark scripts which are deemed illegible.
Please note that, although every effort has been taken to ensure the information contained in these pages is correct, matters covered may be subject to change both before and after a student has registered. The information contained within these pages does not form part of a contract between the University and applicants or students. |
