Dr Mark Gronnow was appointed as Technical Manager of the Microwave Technology Platform in February 2010 to manage the various large industrial projects within the group. Prior to this Mark had been a member of the Centre receiving a PhD in 2005 following a project funded by GSK investigating the use of clean chemical technology in the synthesis of drug molecules involving supported reagents, catalysis and microwave chemistry. During the five years prior to rejoining the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence Mark worked in industry as technical manager for a diagnostic company in manufacturing and taking products to market. During this time he, developed skills as a project manager, trouble shooting, quality assurance and was awarded the Chartered Chemist distinction by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
