Dr Rob Jenkins speaks to UN

Dr Rob Jenkins sets out the importance of Science in achieving the UN’s goals.

In his role as a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA), Dr Rob Jenkins delivered a speech at the meeting of the UN Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) in Paris. The focus of his speech was to stress the importance of science in helping to achieve the Board’s goals for sustainability and poverty reduction. In his speech, Rob set out five recommendations which saw the investment in science and integration, and the promotion of science as themes which should be central to the strategy in achieving the UN’s goals. The GYA aims to promote the voices of exceptional, young scientists from around the world in order that global issues can be addressed. Rob highlighted the importance of the SAB working with the GYA so that young, talented scientists can contribute towards policies which have the potential to have an impact on key issues in the world.
