Posted on 28 April 2015

Dr Katie Slocombe takes part in a Nature podcast about animal communication.

Katie Slocombe’s work on chimpanzee communication is featured on a Nature podcast which delves into questions about the meaning of animal gestures and vocalisations. What does it mean when chimpanzees gesture in a certain way? What do different pitched sounds mean? Can we interpret these gestures and sounds as ‘language’? Alongside other scientists, Katie talks about her work with chimpanzees at Edinburgh zoo, looking at changes in vocalisations when a new group of chimpanzees are integrated into the existing group.
