Dr Nick Barraclough secures multimillion pound interdisciplinary grant

Posted on 26 February 2015

A University of York interdisciplinary collaboration has led to a large research grant being secured.

Dr Nick Barraclough is part of a team of academics from the University of York and University of Leeds who have secured funding totalling £1.8 million from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. The funding will be used in part to carry out research and performances related to Jewish cultural archives. One aim of the project is to understand how audiences understand, experience and engage with rediscovered 20th century musical, theatrical and literary works. As part of this aim, there will be performances of these works at five international cultural festivals, one of which will occur at Clifford’s Tower in York. Along with Dr Lisa Peschel from the Department of Film, Theatre and Television, Nick will supervise a PhD student to investigate the impact of these performances by testing audience responses using novel methods.
