"The best ideas are often the ones that seem most obvious once they have been formulated. The welcome given to this Project has been of that kind: an immediate recognition that this is indeed what is needed. The loss of familiarity with Christian culture and allusion needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency. This is a cause on which the survival of any kind of deep appreciation and understanding of England's literary and artistic heritage depends: strong words but no exaggeration."
Helen Cooper, Professor of Medieval and Renaissance Literature, Cambridge

AN EXCITING NEW PARTNERSHIP

A new partnership between Christianity and Culture and the Churches Conservation Trust is focussing on the opportunities offered by digital technologies to present and interpret churches for people of all ages today.

A pilot project at Holy Trinity Church, Goodramgate, York, produced a CD-ROM resource which uses panoramic photographs, 3D models and interactive software to present the building's spiritual, social and architectural history.

Pilgrimage explores the meaning of spiritual journeying in Christianity and other faiths; how pilgrimage influenced York and why it remains important to many people today.

A Journey through the Christian Year presents the major Christian festivals and celebrations, illustrated by images from the Minster's history and the experience of members of the Minster community today.
