Prospective research students
Overview
The Department of Politics at the University of York is justly proud of its research students.
We have a large current student body of more than 50 research students studying towards their doctorates, and a smaller number completing MPhil and MA by Research degrees.
Our graduates have gone on to stake out significant careers, including many who now occupy senior academic posts in universities in the UK and abroad.
Courses of study
There are three kinds of research degree at York:
Supervisors
At York we believe that the supervisory relationship is extremely important, and so we encourage applications from students who have thought carefully about who they would like to supervise them. Indeed, we encourage prospective research students to contact members of staff for informal discussions.
