This module provides an introduction to some of the key themes and thinkers in recent continental European political thought, organised around the study of influential continental European social and political theorists after Weber. In particular, the module focuses on the work of Max Weber, the early Frankfurt School, Jurgen Habermas, and Michel Foucault. In doing so, it addresses topics such as reason and rationalisation in modernity, legitimacy, and the concepts of power and the political.
