Much of our teaching is based on the traditional methods of lectures, which guide you through the development of the various branches of the subject. This is the principal method of primary knowledge transfer (i.e. this is typically how you will meet topics for the first time). Everyone taking a particular course will be in its lectures, so the class size can vary by quite a margin. For core courses, this can be over a hundred students; for specialist optional courses this can be as small as twenty or even less.
The vast majority of the lectures will take place in lecture rooms within the Department of Physics, however, some timetable overlaps may require the odd lecture to take place in another department.
