An elective module is a module offered by a department that is open to selection by students from outside that department.
Physics undergraduates may choose an elective module in place of certain optional modules. For example, an elective may be taken in year 1 if the choice of degree programme allows it. Electives in the Maths and Chemistry departments are also quite popular with final year MPhys students - see the Compendium of Elective Modules for more details. You may also choose to do a modern foreign language via the Languages for All initiative.
