Application process

To apply for admission as a graduate student (PhD, MPhil, MSc, Graduate Diploma) you should complete the Online Application Form.

In order to assess your application we require a fully completed application form, an official academic transcript and two academic references.  You will need to supply the name of two referees whom we will contact directly for the references.

Students whose first language is not English will need to provide evidence they have met the University's minimum entry criteria.

On your application form you will need to include information on the research projects or areas you are interested in studying (please see our research projects pages).

The Department's research courses may be commenced at any time during the academic year (although 1 October is the most usual starting date). Correspondingly, applications may be sent at any time, if possible at least 6 months before the proposed starting date. However, applicants who are also seeking funding for fees and/or living expenses should note the deadlines associated with the relevant sources of funding, which are mentioned on the funding page.

Individual supervisors would also be happy to answer any questions about their proposed research projects, see our list of academic staff for contact information.
