Research

Overview

Research interests

Post-Kantian idealism, especially Fichte and Hegel. Contemporary Critical Theory. Phenomenology. Aesthetics, ethics and political philosophy.

Current projects

I am currently developing a 'republican' interpretation of Fichte's Foundations of Natural Right. I claim that this interpretation explains a feature of the Foundations that several commentators consider to be problematic - its emphasis on 'coercion'.
