INSET Courses

Details of residential courses for each year will be confirmed towards the end of the autumn term of the previous year. When available, they will be mailed to all known SHAP centres and posted on this website.

Confirmed dates for 2012

Practical SHAP Tuesday 27 - Wednesday 28 March 2012 University of York

The course will take place at the University of York. The programme will focus on practical and ICT activities in both AS and A2. Experienced SHAP technicians and teachers will be involved in running the course. It will start at 1.30 pm on the first day, with lunch provided from 12.30 pm. An evening meal will be provided on the first day, and the course will finish at 12.30 pm before lunch on the second day.

Price freeze : The fee of £250 for the non-residential course is unchanged from 2011.

This year, we regret that we are unable to organise overnight accommodation, so participants will need to arrange their own bed and breakfast. A list of hotels and B&Bs near the University will be sent to participants whose bookings are confirmed. Details of accommodation in York can also be found at http://www.visityork.org/ (the University is to the SE of the city).

If you would like to attend, please download a booking form, and complete and return the form plus payment by Wednesday 29 February 2012. Places are limited to 20 teachers/technicians. Please note that completing the form does not guarantee a place on the course. Your application will be acknowledged by a letter stating whether a place has been allocated to you.

Please note that we can only accept bookings accompanied either by a cheque or by an Official Purchase Order from your school/college. We regret that we cannot reserve places without payment thus we cannot accept bookings by phone or email. We are happy to accept a personal cheque and will issue a receipt so that you can reclaim the amount from your school/college. There will be a £20 administration fee for cancellations; in the case of late cancellations we may be unable to refund fees paid.

If you are unable to attend this course, you might like to bear in mind that similar courses will be organised next year and in subsequent years.

If you would like further information please contact the Project Administrator who deals with the administration of the course, or Elizabeth Swinbank (Project Director) by e-mail or via the Project Office.
