GEN RES

The Sheep Trust  submitted a proposal to AGRI GEN RES 2006, an opportunity to gain funding for European Heritage Sheep Breeds from the European Commission (Council Regulation (EC) 870/2004 - establishing a community programme on genetic resources in agriculture). The application was successful, the work started in 2007 and the programme was successfully completed in the scheduled time. Details can be seen at www.heritagesheep.eu. A policy document highlighting the importance of heritage breeds to agriculture in the member states was prepared, translated and disseminated for efficient uptake in each country.
