Case studiesCase study 1 – To identify GT biocatalysts for the synthesis of a glucosylated lead compound Client: Pharmaceutical company Project: Stage 1 was to identify the enzymes from the GT library that are capable of glucosylating the lead compound. Stage 2 was to evaluate the use of the GT biocatalysts in the microbial production system to synthesize the lead compound regiospecifically and to supply ~100 mg material to the client for product validation. Deliverable: The glucosylated lead compound was synthesized via whole-cell biotransformation using the biocatalysts identified in Stage 1. Several hundred milligrams of product were delivered to the client.
Case study 2 – To supply a list of small molecule glucosides to the client Client: Biotechnology company Project: The client requested several small molecule glycosides for in-house bioactivity assay. The corresponding aglycones were commercially available but the glucosides were not. Deliverable: Glytech purchased these aglycones and transformed them into the regiospecific glycosides. Each product was provided to the client at a minimum scale of 100 mg with >90% purity (HPLC).
Case study 3 – To design and assay a portfolio of natural product glucosides as immunomodulators In-house research, carried out in CNAP, University of York as a collaboration with a specialised immunology laboratory. Project: A list of natural products has been selected and their glycosides synthesized. The glycosides and their aglycones are analysed using dendritic cells in collaboration with a specialised immunology laboratory. Potential uses: Novel immunoregulators and adjuvants. |
