- Dr Teresa Penfield spoke on "Increasing the Artemisinin Yield of Artemisia annua" at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Plant Biologists, July 31-August 4th, Montreal, Canada
- Dr Tony Larson presented a poster, "Combining targeted and untargeted metabolomics to support the development of high-yielding artemisinin lines of the anti-malarial plant, Artemisia annua" at the

- Professor Dianna Bowles presented a talk entitled "Sustainable supplies of bioactive small molecules - artemisinin and other scaffolds" to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, at their conference 'The role of natural products in drug discovery and development in the new millennium' December 4
- The project exhibited at the 5th MIM Pan- African Malaria Conference, November 2-6, Nairobi, Kenya.
- Dr Muhammad Awais Khan presented a poster “Genetic diversity and genetic structure in Artemisia annua (anti-malarial plant collections),” at the Plant Biology Conference 2009 from July 18-22, 2009, Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S
- The project exhibited at the World Conference of Science Journalists in London from 30 June to 2nd July and at the Great Yorkshire Show from 14th - 16th July.
- Dr Tomasz Czechowski and Dr Thilo Winzer presented the poster “Metabolic engineering and mutation breeding in the medicinal plant Artemisia annua” at the Gordon Conference on Plant Metabolic Engineering, July 12-17, Waterville Valley, NH, U.S.
- Dr Anne Rae presented a poster "Using genomics for fast-track breeding in Artemisia annua ." at the Plant and Animal Genome XVII Conference, January 10-14, 2009, San Diego, U.S.
2008
- The All Party Parliamentary Group on Malaria hosted a meeting in the House of Commons to launch the report from the Artemisinin Enterprise Conference 2008.
- THE 2008 Artemisinin Enterprise Conference was held in the Department of Biology at the University of York from October 8-10. This important event brought together high level stakeholders from the fields of global health, policymaking, industry, agriculture, economics and delivery. It provided an update on progress in the Artemisinin Enterprise and considered the impacts and opportunities surrounding the introduction of its new technologies into the ACT supply chain.
- The Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition featured an exhibit on the project entitled "The pharma farmers: plant genetics for more affordable malaria medicines. The exhibition was on show at this prestigious event in central London from 30th June- 3 July.
- Dr Maggie Smallwood spoke on “Fast track breeding of Artemisia annua for artemisinin yield at “Plants & People: mutual dependence in the 21st Century.” PhD Symposium of the Zurich-Basel Plant science centre. 6 June, Zurich, Switzerland.
- Dr Theresa Penfield gave a talk entitled "Increasing artemisinin yield in Artemisia annua” at the 4th EPSO Conference, “Plants for Life.” 22-26 June, Toulon, France.
- The project featured in a poster entitled " The Artemisinin Enterprise-new sources of artemisinin to reduce economic barriers to ACT access." at the 2nd East African Health and Scientific Conference 26-28th March, Arusha, Tanzania.

2007
- A public discussion of the project took place as part of Science City York's "Cafe Scientifique" series, York, 5th December.
- As a member of the Artemisinin Enterprise, the project presented a poster at the 11th Global Forum for Health, Beijing, 29 October - 2 November.
- Professors Dianna Bowles and Ian Graham took part in the Bill
and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Malaria Forum in Seattle,
16-18 October. This forum convened leading malaria researchers and policymakers from around the world to review progress in the fight against malaria.
- The project presented its science to the public with a hands-on exhibition “ Fighting malaria with a medicinal herb ” at the BA Festival of Science on 10th September.
- Project Manager Dr Maggie Smallwood and Plant Breeding Manager Dr Anne Rae met with representatives of the major ACT producers at a workshop “Artemisinin production and market needs: Meeting Global Demand”, convened jointly by the World Health Organization and Medicines for Malaria Venture on 25-26 June in Bangkok, Thailand.

BA Festival of Science 2007
- Project manager, Dr Maggie Smallwood presented at the 5th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health, May 24 – 28, 2007 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Her presentation can be viewed here
- Dr Maggie Smallwood presented at the 8th International TERPNET Meeting on Biosynthesis and Function of Isoprenoids in Plants, Microorganisms and Parasites, April 30 - May 4, Strasbourg, France . Her presentation can be viewed here
- Project workshops February. Small groups of scientific experts were invited to York for two scientific workshops which focused on secondary metabolism and plant development. These proved to be valuable opportunities for brainstorming and sharing scientific expertise, giving the project new ideas on potential gene targets for controlling artemisinin yield.
