Our role is to To identify new genes that are involved in the synthesis of plant cell wall polymers. in particular genes that are required to synthesis cellulose and xylan the two most abundant polymers in plant secondary “wood” cell walls. Identifying these genes will help to understand how these polymers are made and open up opportunities to alter the amount of structure of these polymers so that they be utilised more efficiently.
