The University’s flagship Careers Fairs, organised by Careers, have taken place for another year, but York’s commitment to linking students with top recruiting organisations continues.
Make the most of a range of opportunities, both on campus and online, to find out what employers are looking for, what their industry has to offer and how you can stand out from the crowd and win those internship and graduate positions.
Unique to the University of York, Careers has launched a new opportunity for students to talk face-to-face with top graduate employers. The ‘Employers in Residence’ series brings exciting companies from a range of sectors on to campus for a day to chat about their organisation and the job and internship opportunities they have on offer. To find out which companies are on campus and when, search all “Employers in Residence” via your personalised Careers account.
Employers offer a more formal chance to find out what their organisation has to offer and the type of graduate they are hoping to recruit, through presentations either on or off campus. Representatives take this opportunity to introduce you to the ethos of the company, their opportunities and tips on making your application stand out.
An extensive programme of skills sessions, courses and career workshops led by employers and career professionals also runs throughout the year, providing you with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge informed by those in the world of work.
The University hosts major networking events throughout the year, introducing you to leading local, national and international organisations. These opportunities provide inspiration and advice and the platform to make useful contacts with those in an industry that interests you.
Many of our graduates keep in touch and are happy to support you with your career choices, either through events on campus or via a large collection of online graduate profiles.
For those extra nuggets of information and insight, ‘Like’ the Careers Facebook page to see guest blogs written by an increasing number of employers and professionals. Past bloggers include: the FDM Group (‘Could your technical skills land you a job?’), ASOS (‘Dress to impress!’) and Butchers Hook Videos (‘Getting started in film/tv/video production’).
Access thousands of graduate, part-time and vacation opportunities, including volunteering and internships, all year round, via your personalised Careers account.
