Speaker: Maryam Bibi, Founder and Director of Khwendo Kor, Pakistan
Maryam Bibi, a former student of the University of York, established Khwendo Kor (KK) (which means Sisters’ Home in Pashto) in 1993 and remains its Chief Executive. KK works in the NWFP (North-West Frontier Province) and FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) regions of Pakistan. It focuses on the education, health and economic status of women and children, and was the first NGO to work in FATA from this perspective.
This talk has been organised by the University's Department of Social Policy and Social Work and UK Friends of Khwendo Kor (FROK).
