Arrangements for the start of term
- The Summer term starts on Monday 23 April 2012
- The weeks of each ten-week term are numbered 1 to 10
- Health Sciences Undergraduates - attendance at University or practice may fall outside the University of York term dates
Details of your departmental registration arrangements, meetings with supervisors, library tours and other induction activities, including some teaching, will be available in departments.
All students are required by University Regulation to see their supervisors. Your department will advise you.
The University Library and Archives are situated on University Road and include the JB Morrell Library which houses materials for all subjects taught by the University, the Raymond Burton Library for Humanities Research; the Borthwick Institute for Archives and the Harry Fairhurst building with a variety of IT, group and collaborative study spaces. In the city are a small library at King’s Manor and York Minster Library. Your University Card is also your library card. The University Library offers orientation tours in the first few weeks of term and you are expected to attend one as a part of your departmental induction.
All full-time students who are studying for more than six months and living in York whilst studying should register with a general practice or doctor in the City of York. Students can register with the general practice based in the University Health Centre on campus.
Instructions on the procedures to be adopted in the event of fire are posted on all University notice boards, in all study bedrooms.
The University Sports Centre, through its range of indoor and outdoor facilities, and the Students’ Union, extensive range of clubs and college sport programmes, combine to offer students a huge number of opportunities to try various sports/activities at a range of levels.
