Tim Barber (trumpet)
Tim Barber was born in Worcestershire in 1981 and took up the trumpet at the age of 12. He graduated from the RNCM in 2004 with BMus (hons) and PPRNCM (distinction) having been invited to tour with the European Union Youth Orchestra and appointed principal trumpet of the Orquestra do Algarve, with whom he appeared as a soloist on Portuguese television. Tim works regularly with such ensembles as the Halle Orchestra (including their 150th anniversary tour to South America), BBC Philharmonic (including BBC proms), RLPO, RPO, Opera North, WNO and Manchester Camerata. He has worked with artists including Elbow, Nero, Bryn Terfyll, Leslie Garrett and Katherine Jenkins and on TV adverts including McDonalds and Sainsburys. Tim has also been fortunate enough to perform regularly with Halle brass and as a soloist with the Northern Chamber Orchestra. He is trumpet tutor at the University of York and at the RNCM Junior department.
