Gospel Choir Zamar
Gospel Choir Zamar was established in 2003 and performs gospel music from both sides of the Atlantic. The name is derived from the Hebrew word for praise. The choir was set up with the intention of dispelling all preconceived myths that many people have about gospel music by introducing them to new and exciting forms of gospel singing from both sides of the Atlantic.Today the choir consists of over 40 voices, though it maintains a semi-chorus of 10 voices alongside the larger choir. Gospel Choir Zamar continues to introduce gospel music to students and the public alike. They are a popular feature of many York festivals and events.
