Medieval Studies Visiting Fellowship

The Centre for Medieval Studies has a non-stipendiary Visiting Fellowship which is intended primarily for scholars on sabbatical leave who wish to have a base in York from which to pursue research, but independently-financed researchers are also welcome to apply. The Fellowship can be for one, two or three University terms (October-December; January-March; April-June).

The Fellow is provided with an office in the CMS, computer facilities, and access to limited secretarial assistance (at the discretion of the Director of the Centre). She or he will be an honorary member of the CMS for the period of tenure.

It is hoped that the Fellow will contribute to the intellectual life of the Centre, and she or he will be encouraged to give an occasional seminar.

Applications should be sent to the Visiting Fellowships Selection Committee, Centre for Medieval Studies, King's Manor, University of York, York YO1 7EP.

They should include the following information:

  1. full curriculum vitae
  2. subject of research to be pursued at York
  3. the period at which the applicant proposes to be in York
  4. names and addresses of two referees
  5. confirmation that, if elected, the Fellow will have his or her own financial support during the period of tenure.
