Biography

Jocelyn Hayes is a Teaching Fellow in Strategy with the York Management School at the University of York.

Jocelyn’s background has been in Local Government, where she worked as a senior manager principally in Educational Services, Leisure Services, and Community Services in management, marketing and public relations roles.

She successfully set up and ran a marketing consultancy business gaining experience in the public, voluntary and not-for-profit sectors with some work in the private sector. The business mainly involved undertaking feasibility studies and marketing research on projects for a range of organisations, principally in the heritage/ arts/ education sectors.

Following further study in Leadership and Management she returned to academic posts at Trinity and All Saints (a college of the University of Leeds) and then more recently with the University of Leeds as the Enterprise & Learning Manager of the Leeds Centre in Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Enterprise. She has taught on a wide range of undergraduate and post-experience programmes.

Her key interests lie in the service/ public sector; in marketing and communications (in particular public relations and publishing), arts and events management and more recently, in developing enterprise for the curriculum, via staff development activities at Leeds and in producing an enterprise programme (a lecture and workshop programme) and module development.

Jocelyn currently lectures in marketing and business planning in the York Management School within the Strategy and Public Sector Management section.
