My main current research interests are Corporate Governance, Accountability and the role of Accounting and Auditing Standards with particular reference to the following:
Title of Research Topic: Corporate Governance in the Global Economy: Management controls, their limitations and the significance of Accounting and Auditing Standards.
Supervisors: Dr. Philip Linsley and Dr. Shraddha Verma.
As an undergraduate, I studied Communications at the University of Manchester and then went on to do a Masters in Communications with the University of Manchester. I was recruited by Unilever London from the University to join their graduate management programme. I worked there as a Brand/Marketing Manager.
I then moved to America, where I studied at the University of Maryland for an MBA in Finance and also studied for the (CPA) Certified Public Accountant qualification. In the USA I worked for American Express and World Com as a Financial Analyst.
I moved back to England and worked as a Finance Manager for GE Capital in Leeds as well as Barclays Bank at their Canary Wharf head office in London. I am currently a researcher at the University of York, studying for a PhD in the field of Accounting and Finance. My research interests are Corporate Governance, Accountability and the role of Accounting and Auditing Standards.
