Kathryn HaynesSenior Lecturer in Management AccountingDr Kathryn Haynes is Senior Lecturer in Management Accounting at the York Management School and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Her research interests centre on the context and conduct of accounting, whilst drawing from a range of disciplines, including feminist, sociological, historical and critical perspectives. She is also interested in qualitative and interpretative research methodologies in the accounting context, including narrative, autobiography, oral history and ethnography. Kathryn’s current research involves two inter-related themes: Firstly, the conduct of the professions and professional services firms, particularly in relation to identity and its relationship with gender; the body and embodiment within organizations; and the juxtaposition of professional and personal identities. Secondly, issues of governance and accountability; social and environmental accounting; and social responsibility. Kathryn is an Advanced Institute of Management Services Fellow, funded by the ESRC, and is currently working on a project on professional identity formation in professional services firms. She has published in leading inter-disciplinary accounting journals, such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal and Critical Perspectives on Accounting. Kathryn is a member of Council of the British Academy of Management and visiting scholar at the Center of Professional Integrity and Accountability at Portland State University.
