Internet information resources

  • ChangeDetection.com - is there a web page which you visit from time to time just to see whether there's anything new there? Do you know that you can get a computer to do that for you, sending you an email when there's a change to the page? You will need to give it an email address and the URL (Web address) of the site you're interested in, and it will let you know when there's any change. Note: This doesn't work well on sites which insist on telling you today's date, such as, until recently, HEFCE's page. But apart from that it's a conveniently effortless way to keep an eye on a page.
  • Credo Reference - contains encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri & books of quotations from the world´s leading publishers. Cross-referenced and provides useful general factual information.
  • Dictionary of PC hardware and data communications terms - a searchable dictionary from O'Reilly. Provides complete descriptions of complex terms in two of the most volatile and interesting areas of computer development: personal computers and networks.
  • EduWeb - EduWeb is an Internet service for use by teachers and pupils, and is full of education resources and links.
  • The Internet Society - a non-governmental International organization for global cooperation and coordination for the Internet and its internetworking technologies and applications.
  • IP Address lookup - displays the IP address of the computer you are accessing the Web upon.
  • Unix Insider - an online magazine for UNIX users.
