Electronic journals

  • Electronic Journals at York
Provides links to an alphabetical list of full text electronic journals available at York, subject lists of full text and other electronic journals, publishers' collections of electronic journals, online newspapers and news services and directories of electronic journals.

Databases and datasets

  • MetaLib (York users only)
A gateway to bibliographic databases, statistical datasets, electronic journals and other Web resources available to members of the University. Includes guides and links to help. Also allows cross-searching of resources, and Alerts. Login with your University username and password to access all of these features.
  • Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) - a division of the American Chemical Society. Publishes Chemical Abstracts and provides online access through STN International. Also produces a collection of chemical databases, CD-ROM products, software packages and current awareness services.
  • Chemical Database Service - the UK National Database Service at Daresbury. Includes a very useful Navigator service leading to information on databases (e.g. REACCS), other chemistry WWW services, etc.
  • NIST Chemistry WebBook - a gateway to the data collection of the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

General chemistry services

  • Chemical Online - Industry news, leading edge Manufacturers, regulatory updates, latest technology announcements, and much more can be found here.
  • Chemjobs.net - job vacancy site for chemists, biochemists, pharmaceutical scientists and chemical engineers.
  • ChemWeb - an Internet-based club for researchers, and students in chemistry. Membership is free. Members are able to view full text articles, search the ChemWeb.com Job Exchange, join discussion groups, open a ChemWeb.com account and visit the Meetings Rooms and Chat Bar.
  • CHMINF-L Archive - a forum for discussion of as well as an information source for chemistry reference questions and the sources used to find information needed by chemists.
  • Fisher Scientific Internet Catalog - Browse Fisher Scientific Chemical products to find chemical specification and product specification and Material Safety Data Sheets where relevant. Search by chemical names and formulas.
  • Web-Elements (Sheffield University) - a very good searchable periodic table. Includes links to other Periodic Tables on the Internet.

Protein chemistry

  • Genome Database
  • Protein Data Bank - an archive of experimentally determined three-dimensional structures of biological macromolecules. Molecules R US is another way of searching the database.
  • SCOP: Structural Classification of Proteins - The online WWW access to scop has been designed to facilitate both detailed searching of particular families and browsing of the whole database. To this end, there are a variety of different techniques for navigation. Also includes links to other protein databases.
  • UK Protein and Peptide Science Group - an interest group of the UK Biochemical Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry. Aims to represent the the professional and scientific interests of protein and peptide scientists who are members of both societies, through organising meetings and providing information about resources and opportunities in the UK and elsewhere.
