Staff and students
Vacation borrowing and renewals start for all staff and students, except HYMS and most Health Sciences students and external borrowers, from the beginning of week 10. All overdue books must be returned and all fines paid in full first.
Loan periods continue to be 21 days throughout the year.
- Books may be renewed, as long as they are not needed by other readers, either on the Library Catalogue using My Library Account, or by bringing them to the Library. To renew inter-library loans contact ILDS staff.
- Yellow-banded books, normally one-week loans, may be borrowed for the whole vacation from the Monday of week 10 to the Wednesday of week 1 in the following term.
- 24 hour loans, Journals, DVDs and videos have the same loan periods during the vacation as in term-time, except when the Library is closed over the Christmas and New Year, Easter, and August Bank holiday periods, when they can be borrowed for the whole of the closed period.
- Key Texts have the same loan periods during the Christmas and Easter vaction. During the Summer vacation they will be bookable rolling 24-hour loans to mid-September, after which they will revert to the normal short loan periods.
- Books may be requested using the Library Catalogue at any time during the vacation. The request return date will be the Wednesday of week 1 of the following term.
