Membership

University of York students

All students are automatically registered with the Library when you complete your registration through evision. You will be told where to collect your University card when you arrive at the University, and this is what you will use to borrow items from the Library.

Continuations and extensions: Research students

PhD and MPhil students who continue to study beyond their period of normal registration may register for a further year if required to complete thesis writing up. The University Finance Office will invoice you for the continuation fee which covers access to computing and library borrowing facilities. Your library membership will continue seamlessly but you will need to renew any books you have on loan towards the end of September. For information on access to inter-library loans see who can use ILDS and what are the charges.

Extensions: Masters students

If you are a Masters student on an extension for more than a month you will need to pay us a fee for Library services. You can choose to pay for a year or a term (which includes the following vacation, e.g. the Autumn term fee also covers the Christmas vacation). Please ask at Lending Services for more information.
