Childlink is an online database which focuses on legislation, policies and practices regarding children, young people and families who live in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Childlink provides information on education, welfare, lifestyle, justice, benefit issues, youth affairs, health and employment. It includes the full text of news reports, papers (for example, government reports), research papers, parliamentary proceedings, legislation, guides to welfare benefits, and statistical sources.
Childlink is updated daily and has an archive of over 2 million pages of information.
The subscription to Childlink is funded by the Alcuin Resource Research Centre.
Childlink is available from any PC with Internet access.

In MetaLib, choose the Find Database tab. Locate Childlink from the alphabetical list of databases and click on Childlink. Childlink will open in a new window. Enter your IT Services username and password if required and click on Login.

The KEYWORD SEARCH allows you to search the whole database or to narrow your search to a category and/or region by using the drop-down menus.
The results are displayed in the central column. Click on the title to see the full record.
The Weekly Update service provides an alerting service for each region, including the top news stories as well as all new papers, reports and statistics. Childlink also provides an RSS Feeds service.
If you are unable to trace the information you need, Make a request enables you to ask the producers of Childlink for help in finding the information you require.
The RESOURCES section of Childlink has a Glossary and Study Guides. The Study Guides are written and designed for students of child care courses and have examples of different types of search.
