Introduction

This is a list of major British Statistical sources available in York University Library. Arrangement is by broad subject.

For anyone embarking on a statistical search, the general sources listed at the beginning of the guide, such as the Annual Abstract, the Monthly Digest or Economic Trends, are usually worth examining first before moving on to more specific titles.

Statistics in the form of Parliamentary Papers (principally House of Commons Papers and Command Papers) are located in the Government Publications section of the Library on the first floor. The Guide to census reports 1801-1966 (Reference F 4.2 CEN) contains much useful information about earlier censuses.
