TV and Radio broadcasts for teaching

Off-air TV and radio recordings are a valuable teaching and study aid. We can assist in making this resource available through the BUFVC TRILT service, which can provide recordings of programmes.

Recording material off-air

What we are legally able to record

The BUFVC records and retains more than 44,000 hours of UK broadcast television each year. Copies of these programmes can now be ordered online and can be supplied to members with an ERA licence.

Service

As members of the BUFVC, staff at the University of York can request burned CD or DVD copies of missed programmes broadcast since June 1998.

Coverage

The Off-Air Recording Back-Up Service currently records BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC Radio 4, ITV1, Channel 4 and Five.

Copies of radio programmes may be ordered through TRILT in the same manner as television programmes but will be delivered on CD as MP3 files.

Online Ordering

Using Television and Radio Index for Learning and Teaching (TRILT) simply locate and select the desired programme in TRILT to generate a programme request. Your BUFVC member representative will then authorize and forward it to BUFVC Off Air Recordings Back-Up Service for processing.

Note

The BUFVC Off-Air Recording Back-Up Service does not cover Open University programmes
