Information for NHS staff

Can I join the Library?

Anyone can use the JB Morrell Library, Raymond Burton Library and King's Manor Library for reference without formality.

If you work for one of the following NHS organisations you can join the University Library as an external member. We will want to see proof of your employment and you will need to pay the external members fee.

  • Strategic Health Authorities
  • NHS Trusts
  • Primary Care Trusts
  • NHS Direct

If you are working in another health-related area you may be able to join on payment of a fee if you can demonstrate a particular need to use our Library.

You will find information on using our services and collections on this website.

Please contact us if you can't find what you need.

What are the benefits of membership?

Joining the Library will allow you to:

Unfortunately you won't be able to use our electronic resources unless you visit the Library in person, as publishers' licences restrict their use to current University of York staff and students, or to the Library premises. Most of our electronic resources can be used free of charge on the library premises, as long as that use is for educational purposes (commercial use is prohibited). Further information.

HYMS NHS staff can have their membership paid for by HYMS if they are registered with HYMS.
