Students walking over Alcuin College bridge in spring

The undergraduate degree programme at the York Law School will emphasise:

  • not only the rules of law, but also their application, which will incorporate a problem-solving and skills-based approach
  • understanding the social environment in which law operates
  • developing commercial awareness and other competences useful in employment.

In addition to the expertise of staff in the new department, the curriculum will also draw upon the specialisms of staff in other areas such as Politics, Management and Criminal Justice. The integration of these other disciplines will enable students to specialise in latter parts of the course – eg in Commercial Law, Public Law, Law and Value, or Criminal Justice - according to their particular interests and career choice.
