King's Manor
FvP will be held at the King's Manor which is inside the walled city close to downtown York. More detailed directions and a printable local map can be found here.
Getting to York from London Heathrow airport (about 4 hours)
- Underground train (Piccadilly Line) to London King's Cross Station
- Train from King's Cross to York (East Coast main line)
- Train to London Victoria Station
- Underground train (Victoria Line) to London King's Cross Station
- Train from King's Cross to York (East Coast main line)
- Train to York (Transpennine Route)
- Bus to York train station (www.yorkaircoach.com)
- Train to York, changing at Peterborough (to join the East Coast main line route).
- Trains from London King's Cross and Manchester to York are fast and frequent.
- The easiest routes are not necessarily the cheapest. You may be able to save some money by travelling by coach from London, but in general services are less frequent and may not be so convenient.
- The cost of travelling to York from London varies greatly depending on the day and time of day: travelling between 06.30 and 08.30 is the most expensive time. When you buy your ticket, make sure you ask whether there are ways in which you can reduce the cost.
Staying over in London
- If your plane arrives after 5pm in the evening, you will almost certainly need to stay overnight and travel to York the following day.

- The International Students' House is a hostel with modest accommodation at a reasonable cost quite close to King's Cross Station.
