Norwegian Study Centre
The Norwegian Study Centre (NSC) was originally founded in 1979 and we are proud to be the only permanent English study centre for Nordic students and professionals in the UK. The NSC is based at the University of York in the North of England and is a full part of the university’s Faculty of Arts & Humanities. We have been a vital link between the UK and Norway for generations of students and our work continues today, offering short and semester length English Studies courses for undergraduates, postgraduates, and relevant in-service professionals. We also increasingly welcome visitors from the wider Nordics and thus are a central networking link between educational systems across Northern Europe.
We pride ourselves on providing high-quality and intellectually stimulating teaching, as befits our status as part of a leading UK university. We are home to a small team of academic staff who are all research-active experts in the culture, language, literature, politics, and history of the UK. Unlike other study abroad programmes, the courses offered at the NSC are bespoke to visitors from Norway and the wider Nordics. This means we are able to offer our students genuinely unique and immersive intercultural and educational experiences in York.
