About the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence for IndustryThe Centre provides a world-class R&D service linking University and Business. It was initially established as the Yorkshire Forward Green Chemistry Centre of Industrial Collaboration in 2003. As of July 1st, 2006 the centre has been relaunched as the new Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence for Industry. It is an integral component of the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence at the University of York and is a partnership between the University of York, University of Leeds and Central Science Laboratories at Sand Hutton. The Centre for Industry builds on the three partners' well-established reputations for managing successful commercial R&D projects with industry and aims to act as a one-stop-shop for companies to access the world-class research and expertise-base and state of the art facilities at the partner sites.
The venture brings together a team of scientific and technical experts committed to helping industry in areas related to clean chemical technology (green chemistry) and development of green and sustainable products and industrial processes through consultancy, research and training courses.
To make it easier for companies unused to dealing with academic research, interactions are run by a dedicated Commercial Manager supported by expert staff who commission the right research expertise for a project and manage it to agreed deadlines and budget.
