The University awards a number of scholarships each year to overseas (non-EU) students with a high academic standing. The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Their annual value varies and successful candidates will be required to meet the balance of the costs of their course. Further details and application forms may be obtained from the University's Graduate Office. The closing date for the receipt of applications is usually 1 June in the year for which admission is sought. Overseas students may also enquire from their local British Council office about awards from the Council and from other instututions. MA in Women's Studies By Research

The University awards a number of scholarships each year to overseas (non-EU) students with high academic standing. The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. A number of University bursaries contributing towards the cost of fees are available for part-time students. Their annual value varies and successful candidates will be required to meet the balance of the cost of the course. Further details and application forms may be obtained from the University's Graduate Office or the Centre. The closing date for the receipt of applications is usually 1 June in the year for which admission is sought. Overseas students may also enquire from their local British Council office about awards from the Council and from other institutions.




MPhil/PhD in Women/s Studies

UK students and other EC nationals, where appropriate, may apply for funding to either the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) or the Arts and Humanities Research Board (AHRC). The ESRC will consider both full-time and part-time applications where the focus of the research falls, broadly speaking, into the social sciences, and who have appropriate, recognised prior research training. The AHRC will consider applications from full-time students whose research is focused on literary, historical, cultural, linguistic or philosophical topics.

The University awards a number of scholarships each year to overseas (non-EC) students with high academic standing. The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. The University may also nominate non-EC students for the Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme. The closing date for applications is 31 January 2008. Further details and application forms for both of these may be obtained from the University's Graduate Office.




ESRC funding for Postgraduate Research in Women's Studies

Suitably qualified home or EU applicants may seek funding either on a 1+3 basis (to cover both the MA and PhD) or, for those who have already completed an ESRC recognized research training Masters or equivalent, on a +3 basis (for PhD only).

This funding is competitive and must be applied for through the institution and department in which you intend to undertake postgraduate research. It is important to consult your prospective supervisor before completing the ESRC forms. Those seeking ESRC funding should contact the Centre for Women's Studies as soon as possible, preferably before the beginning of March and absolutely no later than the first week in April.
