Top research rating for Women's Studies at York

• The core Women's Studies staff at York were part of the Sociology submission to RAE 2008, which was ranked equal 1st in the UK


• The Sociology panel included Interdisciplinary Women's Studies within its remit and most major gender and women's studies centres in the UK were included in Sociology submissions (e.g. Lancaster, Warwick, LSE and Newcastle). York is the top ranked among these.


• Academics from across the University, submitted to a number other Units of Assessment, contribute to Women's Studies. The University of York as a whole has among the highest proportion of research activity of world-leading 4* status of any UK university, and is rated eighth out of 159 higher education institutions for its research excellence.
