ADVERSE EFFECTS IN SYSTEMATIC REVIEWS
Critique of systematic reviews of adverse effects
BackgroundThis systematic review aimed to identify how adverse effects had been dealt with in published systematic reviews identified from DARE and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (1994-2005). The objective was to review the methodology undertaken in systematic reviews where adverse effects were a primary outcome, and outline any difficulties or gaps in this methodology to inform future research.
There is an obvious need to improve the methodology and reporting of systematic reviews of adverse effects. The methodology around identification and quality assessment of primary data is the main concern.Conducted by: Su Golder1, Yoon Loke2, Heather M McIntosh3
