This site presents the work of the York node of the ESRC-supported Evidence Network. Our aim is to contribute to the development of systematic review methodologies in social policy and social care. The rationale was to explore the challenges presented when applying systematic review methods to research in social policy and social care. The aim is to produce fully funded reviews that include issues relating to the use of public and private approaches to social policy as exemplars of complex policy problems. In addition, colleagues are involved in a range of commissioned review projects conducted within the Department of Social Policy and Social Work. This will enable us to draw together learning from reviews in different fields, for different purposes and with a range of resources. The project was initiated and led by the late Professor Sally Baldwin but is now directed by Professor Roger Burrows. The following staff have been significantly involved in the node's activities. Dr Hilary Arksey
Research Fellow, Social Policy Research Unit ha4@york.ac.uk The work is supported by the Information Science team of the NHS
