The Bereavement Services portal provides

The Burial and Cemeteries Advisory Group was
established in December 2001 following the
2001 report on cemeteries by the Environment,
Transport and Regional Affairs Committee. The
Group was established with a view to harnessing
the collective expertise of the industry, and
to provide better co-ordinated advice and information
to Government, the burial authorities, and
the public.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission was
established by Royal Charter in 1917. Its duties
are to mark and maintain the graves of the
members of the forces of the Commonwealth who
were killed in the two World Wars, to build
memorials to those who have no known grave
and to keep records and registers including,
after the Second World War, a record of the
Civilian War Dead.

The Cremation Society of Great Britain aims
to promote and establish the practice of cremation
for the disposal of the bodies of dead persons
and to join with local authorities or other
bodies or persons for this purpose. Note that

The National Federation of Cemetery Friends.
The formation of a number of groups of volunteers
with the common aim of conserving their local
cemeteries led, in 1986, to the founding of
the National Federation of Cemetery Friends.
The Federation acts as a link for Cemetery
Friends in the UK, disseminating information
and organising an annual conference.

The Natural Death Centre aims to support
those dying at home and their carers and to

Centre for Death and Society, University of Bath
The Centre studies social aspects of death,
dying and bereavement. Established in September
2005, CDAS is an interdisciplinary centre of
regional, national and international importance.
It provides a centre for the social study of
death, dying and bereavement and acts as a
catalyst and facilitator for research, education
and training, policy development, media, and
community awareness.
