Coalition for Evidence-based Education

The IEE is currently building a ‘Coalition for Evidence-based Education’ (CEBE) - an alliance of researchers, policy makers, and practitioners who share an interest in reforming the way research evidence is used in policy and practice.

The overall goal of the Coalition is to explore how we make research evidence more central to education policy and practice. The initial emphasis is on knowledge exchange and research utilisation across the sector.

The main objectives of the coalition are to:

  • Use specific real-world scenarios - presented by practitioners and policy makers - to explore the challenges and opportunities in making appropriate use of evidence in education.
  • Develop a clearer and more consensual picture of what an evidence-using culture would comprise.
  • Generate a set of recommendations, put forward by the coalition, that can be developed into practical proposals to support knowledge exchange and evidence-based practice.

Visit the CEBE website for more information about the Coalition.

In late 2011 more than 70 policy makers, journalists, educators, and researchers attended a parliamentary event to hear more about the Education Media Centre (EMC), a major project of CEBE. You can hear some of the speakers in the video below.
