Welcome from the Director
From newly emerging scholars to world-leading experts, academics pursue their research here individually and collaboratively. As both a place and a community, it allows us to discover synergies in our work across subject areas and creates the conditions in which those synergies can develop and flourish in stimulating ways. It provides a home for interdisciplinary conversation and for the projects that emerge from that and is the base from which we engage in mutually enriching ways with communities beyond the academy. It therefore allows us to enjoy and pursue the privilege of being an intellectual community apart - conducting our research in beautiful surroundings. And it simultaneously inspires us to be an intellectual community engaged - taking the best of our work to the world beyond, and inviting other communities to explore with us the excitement and riches of the world of ideas.
