Biography

Marie is an architectural historian, interested in the connections between medievalisms and civic identity during the eigheteenth and nineteenth centuries. 

Of specific interest to her are medieval bridges in the post-medieval period, and the work of the Victorian Gothic Revivalist civil engineer Thomas Page.

Marie's PhD explored perceptions of the medieval bridges of London and York between c.1730 and 1840, and the subsequent remoulding of urban space and identity associated with the contruction of Gothic Revival bridges in those cities between 1840 and 1881. 

Marie is currently exploring issues that have emerged from her thesis, and has recently completed an article on the mid-Georgian remodelling of Old London Bridge.
