Profile

Biography

Samantha’s research interests lie in eighteenth-century visual cultures, particularly portraiture and graphic satire. Her doctoral research explores the artistic mobility of eighteenth-century British portraitists in a diverse range of locations that include the provinces, London and the American colonies. Her PhD thesis seeks to raise questions about whether our conceptions of the British art produced in the period may be better understood in terms of a broader circulation of artists and goods across and between visual cultures.
